I’d like to talk about one time when I used my smartphone and it saved my day!

I still remember it vividly. It was an early fall three years ago. At the time, my bestie and I were on a fortnight trip in South Korea. It’s a great place where we had a blast.

However, on the last day of our stay, right before leaving the hotel we received a message warning us of the upcoming typhoon. Seeing this, we were a bit anxious coz we didn’t know if our flight would be cancelled. As we hadn't got any notice from the airline company, we went downstairs to check out. By the time we finished checkout, we learned from a chatting group on WeChat that all the flights in South Korea had been cancelled that day due to the typhoon.

Then we confirmed the news with the airport; it was true, so we asked the receptionist to extend our stay but were unfortunately told that we had just checked out and there wasn't any vacant room left that day. As a result, we had to find another hotel to get by. So my bestie and I began to browse the hotel options on Agoda, a hotel-booking application.

Much to our surprise, all the hotels in that district were fully occupied. We continued leafing through the pages, and finally, we found one on Agoda. It’s about 8km from where we were, and it charged a premium price, of course. But what could we do? Without hesitation, we made the reservation by phone and hailed a cab using the car-hailing app.

To be honest, I couldn’t even imagine what it would be like if we didn't have phones or if they were dead or something.
