Some people suggest that young adults should be encouraged to do some unpaid work for a period of time for the community to help people. Does it bring more benefits or drawbacks to the community and the young people?

In this day and age/in contemporary society（在当今社会）, young adults in increasing number（越来越多） are inclined to（倾向于） participate in more unpaid community work. Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether this phenomenon is a blessing or a curse（是福是祸）. For my part, I side with the stance of the former to a larger extent.

For one thing, most of unpaid community jobs can equip young adults with(使---具有) various hands-on experience（实践经验）, which will pave the way for（做好充分的准备） their future career prospects. To be specific, it is more likely for them to have a better grasp of（更好掌握） team spirit, interpersonal skills and organizing ability so that their competitiveness will be sharpened（增强竞争力） immensely when they are confronted with（面对） rat race（激烈竞争） in the workplace.

For another, through unpaid community work, young adults will gradually have a clearer picture of (更清楚了解)the significance of the sense of social responsibility and empathy. After all, our society is plagued with（受到---困扰） a wide variety of pressing issues such as poverty, environmental degradation, and inadequate access to education or healthcare. In this case, only through joint efforts of all social members will the world we are living in become more harmonious and ideal.

It has to be admitted that young adults will lack the driving force if the community work is unpaid, and when they are forced to engage in those activities, the consequence willbackfire(事与愿违). However, as long as the government and community can enhance overall awareness of youngsters toward voluntary work through publicity and education and encourage them to take active part in the activities with some proper incentives and rewards, it will form a benign circle（良性循环） in a long run.
