In this knowledge-oriented society, top priority has been given to subject choices due to the significance inensuring students’ promising future. Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether math or other courses will impose more positive influences on their career prospects. I will make an objective analysis of this argument in my following essay.

Some people harbor the belief that a better grasp of math does a great job in(有助于) fostering students’ logical thinking ability. To be specific, math can equip students with（让---具有） the skill to think step by step, breaking down complex problems into manageable parts so that when they are confronted with（面对） rat race in the years to come, it is more likely for them to make sound judgements. Not to mention that （更不用说）many fundamental principles in math can lay a solid foundation for（打下坚实的基础） the excellent master of other subjects like physics, chemistry and even computers.

However, others maintain that other subjects such as literature, history and arts are of equal importance. For one thing, the school should place great emphasis on(重视) the overall development of students, especially children. Undoubtedly, these courses contribute to a well-rounded education, cultivating creativity, imagination, cognitive training and problem-solving skills, to name but a few(等等). For another, intensive interests nurtured by a wider range of courses can stimulate their eager for study on the grounds that（因为） interest is the greatest driving force to achieve better academic performance.

From my own perspective, math and other subjects do not fall into a conflict, which should go hand in hand with each other(不矛盾，相辅相成). To illustrate, math as an indispensable tool will pave the way for（做好充分的准备） the perfect combination of relevant knowledge from other fields. Meanwhile, concentration on other subjects will foster students into comprehensive talents required by social progress. As a master of fact, a balanced curriculum is the most desirable mode of education.
